Materials List

  • A copy of the provided adult coloring design
  • 6" x 8.2" caramel colored cardstock
  • 5.5" x 3.7" thin cork sheet
  • 15mm wide cream-with-golden-polka-dots washi tape
  • 0.2"-wide dark beige satin ribbon
  • Wax crayons: orange, yellow, brown and black
  • A 24-color set of Marco Raffine watercolor pencils
  • Quick-drying craft glue (such as Bostik Clear)
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Hairdryer

Instructions:

  1. Click here to download a copy of the design. Start coloring the background around the poppy flower:
Heat small sections of the area around the flower with the hairdryer and use the crayons to color the background. The heat of the hairdryer will make the crayons melt, so that will look as if you are painting with the crayons.

  2. Working with slightly wet pencils on dry paper, color the poppy flower:
        a. Color all the petals with bright red (pencil 508).
        b. Use black (pencil 570) to color the center of the flower.
        c. Use the leaf green (pencil 546) to color the stem.
        d. Use the dark red (510) and leaf green (546) to add shadows to the petals, and white (501) to add highlights to the petals and center.

  3. Score the caramel colored cardstock to create a card sized 6" x 4.1".

  4. With the fold at the left, center and glue the piece of cork sheet to the front of the card.

  5. Glue a strip of washi tape down the left side of the cork sheet and cut off any protruding edges.

  6. Cut the colored poppy flower to a size 5.1" x 3", and glue it to the front of the card.

  7. Glue the ribbon to the card and cut off any protruding edges.
