Instructions:
To Make the Paper Roses:
-
Tear four pages from the book and stack them on top of each other.
-
Draw a circle with a diameter of 4.6" on top of the stack of papers. Keep the pages together and cut out the circle.
-
Cut the stack of circles into a spiral shape, leaving a small circle in the center to form the base of the rose.
-
Start rolling up the spiral from the outside towards the inside - wind it up pretty tightly. If you want a less fettered appearance in some of the roses, slowly release your hold on the paper spiral to let it unwind a little before gluing the base in place.
-
Add hot glue to the base of the rose to hold the spiral in place. Wait until the glue dries before relaxing your hold on the rose. Add a drop of glue to the center of the rose.
-
Make two more roses in the same way, but for these, use circles with a diameter of 2.6".
-
Spray the top edges of the roses with a thin layer of gold paint and allow to dry.
To Create the Artwork:
-
Use the craft glue to glue a strip of lace across the canvas panel. Glue it around the sides too, and also about 0.5" on the back of the panel before cutting the rest off.
-
Paint the front and sides of the canvas panel with the pink paint. Make sure that the lace is also painted thoroughly. Allow to dry before continuing with the next step.
-
Glue the polka dot cardstock to the front of the canvas panel. Add enough glue so that the cardstock will remain smooth when the varnish is applied.
-
Fold the gold lace into pleats and hot glue it to the top left of the canvas panel.
-
Arrange the DIY paper roses; the decorative embellishment; the paper flowers; the heart and the birds on the canvas panel, and secure everything with hot glue.
-
Use craft glue to secure rhinestones to the canvas panel.
-
Apply a coat of varnish to the canvas panel and allow to dry thoroughly.
