Materials List

  • A3-sized cream colored handmade tissue paper
  • 2 A4-sized vintage music sheets
  • 8.2" x 5.7" cream colored cardstock
  • 30" of cream lace ribbon that is 1" wide
  • 10" long wooden bamboo skewer
  • Green floral tape
  • 4.4"-wide heart-shaped cookie cutter
  • Plastic lid with a diameter of 4"
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Clear-drying craft glue (such as Bostik Clear)
  • Optional: green artificial silk rose leaves; 6" piece cut from a 28 gauge green floral wire; long-nosed pliers

Instructions for CENTER OF FLOWER:

  1. a. Use the lid to trace two circles on to the tissue paper, and cut them out.
    b. Crumple up the one circle and put it on top of the second circle.
    c. Add glue all around the crumpled circle.
    d. Fold the second circle over the crumpled-up one.
    e. Add to the bamboo skewer and secure with floral tape.

Instructions for FLOWER:

  1. a. Trace and cut 10 hearts from the tissue paper, and 8 from the music sheets.  These will be the rose petals.
    b. Fold the bottom part of each petal around the top of the skewer, and secure the bottom point of each heart to the skewer, using the floral tape. Alternate between a layer of tissue paper petals and a layer of music sheet petals. When adding the music sheet petals, first glue the bottom point of each heart in place before using floral tape, to prevent the heart from tearing.
    c. Continue until all the rose petals have been secured.
    d. Gently fold the petals of the rose open.
    e. Cover the whole skewer with floral tape, so that the rose will have a green stem.

Instructions for FINISHING:

  1. a. Depending on the type of artificial leaves used, you may need to add a piece of wire to the leaves, before securing them to the skewer with floral tape.
    b. Use the ribbon to make a bow beneath the rose and neatly cut both ends of the ribbon with a V-shape.

What a romantic and sweet idea. I would like to try making a mix of sheet music and book page flowers.
