Materials List

  • Plain brown paper bag (150mm x 200mm) with rope handles
  • A6 sized piece cut from ordinary white printer paper
  • A6 sized pink floral embossed paper
  • Leftover piece of 25mm wide dark pink crocheted lace
  • 25mm wide light purple polymer clay rose
  • Two 25mm wide self-adhesive neon pink circle stickers
  • Two 13mm wide natural wooden laser cut birds
  • Natural jute ribbon
  • 10mm wide pink with purple leopard spots washi tape
  • Pentel set of 25 oil pastels
  • Staedtler 12-color watercolor set
  • Paintbrush
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Standard scissors
  • Quick-drying craft glue (such as Bostik Clear)
  • Heavy book
  • Small plastic bowl with water

Instructions:

  1. Use the pencil to lightly draw an abstract flower on the printer paper. Use the oil pastels to the color the pencil lines of the flower and to some parts of the flower petals. Add some light blue squiggly shapes to the background around the flower.

  2. Use the paintbrush and light blue, purple, and dark pink paint to give the piece of paper a wash. Allow to dry and then press the piece of paper in between the pages of the book overnight.

  3. Glue the piece of pink floral embossed cardstock to the front of the bag.

  4. Cut the piece of paper with the painted flower slightly smaller and glue it to the bag, in such a way that it will overlap with the embossed cardstock.

  5. Glue a strip of crocheted lace to the bottom of the bag and cut off any protruding edges.

  6. Glue the polymer clay rose in place.

  7. Add the two stickers, and glue a little bird onto each sticker.

  8. Cut three pieces from the jute ribbon and use all three pieces together to make a bow. Glue it in place below the birds.

  9. Add a piece of washi tape and cut off any protruding edges.
